David T. Thomas, President

As President of Nelson Financial Group, Dave over see's all aspect of the day to day business while providing service and support to all Nelson Financial Group corporate clients.

Dave has been with NFG since 1999 and has lived in Arizona since 1980.  He grew up in Indiana and attended Indiana State University.  Dave was a qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round Table in Arizona for 2005 and is a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.

Dave loves to spend time with his family:  Juli, his wife since 1981, and their two children, Ben and Briana.  He also enjoys playing basketball, golf, and softball.  He and Juli attend Northern Hills Community Church, where Dave volunteers with the high school youth group.

Jim Chapman, Chief Financial Officer

As the controller for Nelson Financial Group, Jim oversees accounting, cash management, and general financial issues for the company and its affiliates. He comes to NFG after serving in a variety of administrative, accounting, and financial positions both in private industry and government.

Jim's academic and professional background includes a B.A. from Wheaton College, an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago, and an M.A. from Phoenix Seminary. He also is licensed as a CPA in the State of Arizona.

Jim is gifted as a writer and public speaker. For over 15 years he has been composing and reciting inspirational poems to a variety of audiences on biblical and holiday themes. One of his poems was recently published in an illustrated book entitled The Night After Christmas [WinePress, 2009]. He has been married for over 30 years to his wife Laurie and has two grown children, Sierra and Gabe.

Yvonne Gonzales, Executive Assistant

Yvonne manages all aspects of the day-to-day operations for Daniel D. (Danny) Nelson and the overall duties necessary to administer the Nelson Financial Group.  Her prior business experience includes management of a restaurant and a jewelry store.

Yvonne grew up in Prescott, Arizona, and graduated from Central New Mexico College.  She takes pride in caring for her home, her husband, and their two boys, Steven and Samuel.  She enjoys the great outdoors and loves to hike.

Bruce Mogel, Financial Analyst

Bruce has more than 30 years experience in operational management.  He has served as VP of Operations in several retail environments, including a pivotal role in the reorganization of a national sporting goods company.  He also has been a founder, owner and investor in restaurant chains in New York and New Jersey.

Mr. Mogel has held several lead executive roles in the healthcare field.  From 1999 to 2002 he served as Executive Vice President of Operations for Doctors’ Community Healthcare Corporation.  Here he was responsible for the operations and profitability of five acute care hospitals and one psychiatric hospital.  In this capacity he managed a team of six hospital CEOs and other senior management members.

Bruce is the founder, president, and CEO of Integrated Healthcare Holdings, Inc., a company he built out of four struggling hospitals and restored to profitability in five years.  He has served as Chief Executive Officer and director of the company since November, 2003.

Mr. Mogel earned his Bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
