David T. Thomas, President
As President of Nelson Financial Group, Dave oversees all aspects of the day to day business while providing service and support to all Nelson Financial Group corporate clients. Much of his attention is focused on the group benefits education of clients and their employees. Dave also assists in various aspects of Nelson Financial Services.
Dave has been with NFG since 1999 and has lived in Arizona since 1980. He grew up in Indiana and attended Indiana State University (with Larry Bird!)
Dave and his wife Juli have been married since 1981. They have two grown children, Ben and Briana, and four grandchildren, Kennedy, Evan, Titus, and Casey. Dave loves to spend time with his family, especially traveling, hiking and camping with Juli. He also enjoys playing a little golf.
Dave has his Life and Health License.
Jim Chapman, Chief Financial Officer
As the controller for Nelson Financial Group, Jim oversees accounting, cash management, and general financial issues for the company and its affiliates. He comes to NFG after serving in a variety of administrative, accounting, and financial positions both in private industry and government.
Jim's academic and professional background includes a B.A. from Wheaton College, an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago, and an M.A. from Phoenix Seminary. He also is licensed as a CPA in the State of Arizona.
Jim is gifted as a writer and public speaker. For over 15 years he has been composing and reciting inspirational poems to a variety of audiences on biblical and holiday themes. One of his poems was recently published in an illustrated book entitled The Night After Christmas [WinePress, 2009]. He has been married for over 30 years to his wife Laurie and has two grown children, Sierra and Gabe.
Bruce Mogel, Branch General Manager
Bruce has more than 30 years experience in operational management. He has served as VP of Operations in several retail environments, including a pivotal role in the reorganization of a national sporting goods company. He also has been a founder, owner and investor in restaurant chains in New York and New Jersey.
Mr. Mogel has held several lead executive roles in the healthcare field. From 1999 to 2002 he served as Executive Vice President of Operations for Doctors’ Community Healthcare Corporation. Here he was responsible for the operations and profitability of five acute care hospitals and one psychiatric hospital. In this capacity he managed a team of six hospital CEOs and other senior management members.
Bruce was the founder, president, and CEO of Integrated Healthcare Holdings, Inc., a company he built out of four struggling hospitals and restored to profitability in five years. He served as Chief Executive Officer and director of the company from 2003 - 2008.
Mr. Mogel earned his Bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
